Where or Where Do I Get My Ingredients for My Candles and Supplies?

If you are just starting out in the candle business (whether it be hobby or business) where do you get the candles and supplies to make or sell them?
To begin, it depends on where you are on the skill level. If you have never made a candle before, you might try making a few candles by just buying some supplies from your local craft store.
The other drawback of your local craft store is their usual lack of experience in candle making. You may have made a few candles and encountered a problem or maybe you want to try something new but don't understand something. A quick trip to the craft store would be fruitless in getting any useful information simply because many workers do not know a lot about candle making.
Where does that leave you? Well you know the answer and that is the Internet. You can find just about any kind of supplies or ingredients needed to make candles, and, you can find the how's to make or do something.
Now if you have a specific, sort of unique question, and can't find the answer by searching the net, all you need to do is find the right candle making supplier and send them an e-mail. There are many mom and pop' shops on the net who will gladly answer your questions on how to do or fix something. To find someone like this, just search around the net and visit different sites. You'll undoubtedly find some store willing to help you. Obviously the decent thing to do then is at least purchase something from them.
Before buying your candle supplies, check around and visit some of the online candle and supply shops. You'll find vast differences in selections, quality and prices. If you find the right store you'll find a gold mine, for they will cater to your needs, offer you the free technical support mentioned above, give you volume discounts and reasonable shipping. They want you to succeed. For it you succeed, they will succeed and hopefully get your business again in the future.
Before buying at any online merchant you should begin by checking just a few things. By checking these two things you can pretty well decide if you want to continue looking around their site. First you should know how their prices compare with other sites. This is really simple. The next thing to check is their shipping charges. This can be easy or difficult depending on the site. Some sites will make it very obvious to determine your shipping costs and other sites will have you dig and dig to find something. If that is the case, be ware!
Some sites also advertise "wholesale" pricing. This doesn't mean that you can't buy anything there if you are just looking for candle supplies to use in your hobby. What it usually means is that if you buy large enough quantities, you will get substantial discounts. This is true with many places who may or may not advertise themselves as wholesalers. Generally the more you buy, the cheaper the per item cost.
In the end, where you get your candle and supplies depends on your needs. If you can afford to wait and want a big selection, you r best option is to buy online. Otherwise, your only option is your local craft store, which is really not that bad if you are just starting out.
